An poem about my past friend, and cousin.
“More than Just Cousins”

Just the other day
The world seemed so dark and the clouds so gray
I opened my purse
All grumpy and terse

My wallet flipped open to such a wonderful sight
It made my world seem oh so right
It was a picture of you
Smiling back at me, not all blue

You made me stop and think
Of those many times we had gone for a drink
The laughs, the cries
The grumps and the sighs

You made me think of those beautiful eyes
The ones that gather so many guys
You made me think of how much you care
And the way you are so willing to share

When others ask who you are
I say you are my friend, a very special star
“Cousin” just doesn’t quite fit
Even though that’s defiantly legit

I prefer to call you my friend
Someone I will be there for, right to the end
I hope that you will say the same
For I do believe, without you, life would be so very lame

No “ogling” boys
No speaking of boyfriends as our special toys
These loses I could never bear
I am sure I would pull out all my hair

I am sure you know this entire jumble I wrote
Oh my gosh, I seem to have something caught it my throat
It’s that feeling I get when I am about to cry
That feeling I get when I feel so strong I could fly

I know it comes from knowing you are there
Prancing around with that special flare
So just you know, and I hope you can see,
Just how much you mean to me!
