The importance of choosing your own path.
Propelled into a day which I created
without the help of strings that i could see,
but like a robot doesn't choose;
It acts as it has been told-
by Those who knew what was better.
Knew what was better.

Those words echo inside my head
As I drive away each day
Someone knew better than me,
why question that?

But who are these elders I seem to revere?
How do they have such a hold upon me?
so strong that I have created a life to please Them
with no apparent reward
but misery.

and so i nod my head and sing along
to the words of another song that I have found which resonates my thoughts.
My only escape
and They shall never know!

But the more I stop to think of Them
I suspect that They possibly do not exist
'cept for in the walls above my neck,
a dangerous place to linger.

The tragedy I mourn today,
is not lined with corpses nor treachery
but the sentence which i have imposed upon myself,
no appeal
no early release
nonexistent.
