Commentary on how we rush through life and put the important things on hold.
Life on Hold

Pencil me in for
Tuesday next week
If it that doesn’t work,
At least we can speak
On Wednesday at the latest
You know you’re the greatest
Hold please,
The boss on line three.

Cancel next Tuesday,
Wednesday is past
It’s been several days
Since you heard from me last
But I’ve checked my schedule,
Saturday’s clear
Thanks for your patience
You are a dear
Hold please,
The ex is on three.

I’ll have to take a raincheck,
The kids are in town
But next weekend is yours
I say with a frown
I have a leaky faucet
But it will have to wait
I promise next weekend
We have a date
Hold please
The client, line three.

This morning in the paper
Much to my surprise
I found your picture
Right before my eyes
I’ll have to change the outfit
I’m wearing Saturday
The notice said it’s tragic
How you passed away
Hold please
My tears are on line three.
