Another no-big-deal, ten-minute poem
If I Could be Loved

My heart was aching
From the cold reality
That I could never be loved
Why did that have to be?

I felt so small and worthless
No one could love me
I was an empty shell
Of what I could never be

The emptiness inside me
Was beginning to spread
To the very core of my being
My heart, my soul, my head

Then someone came along
That made me feel beloved
Someone that made me see
That I could be loved

Someone out there loves me
With that knowledge, I live on
There is someone that gives my story
A time to be upon

If I could be loved
It’s in this moment, now
At this time I realize that
My heart is too allowed
