An age old comment
Apples to Oranges

Let us try and do the unthinkable
The answer to every argument
That can’t be resolved
The statement that every debater
Holds in his arsenal
Comparing apples to oranges

While apples can be washed and devoured
Oranges take some preparation

The peeler, slow, methodical
Making sure to remove all that remains
Of the white follicles that stick so stubbornly
Splitting the inner prize into halves
Careful not to breach the skin of the inner wedge

Orange juice, a staple of the breakfast table
Apple juice, apple cider, apple sauce

Now we see, with apples, it’s all in the preparation
Cider, a concoction rivaled only by a fine wine
How many must the undaunted extractor yield
I dare say Mr. Appleseed would be brought to tears
But nothing brightens a feast like a fine sauce

I can’t remember having a slice of orange pie
Or, I dare say, an orange fritter
I would pass given the opportunity
Although, apple juice, grenadine and tequila
Sounds just as appalling to the pallet

Now as we examine these pros and cons
These delights of nectareous bliss
We must take pause and reflect
Had Eve so boldly picked an orange
A need for arguing may never have been necessary
