There’s a little town just down the way
I used to walk there every day.

There lived an elf with great big snout
Who when he saw me used to shout.

“Hey, you, yes you with that walking stick,
Why do you walk through my town so quick?”

I could not tell him I feared him much
I did not want to feel his touch.

And then one day he jumped right out
In front of me and began to shout.

"I will not hurt you, you silly goat"
Then quickly grabbed me by the throat.

He dragged me to his little den
And showed to me his unusual hen.

Its feathers were of gold and brass
And the eggs it laid were green as grass.

Then sat we down to tea and cake
Green eggs of course were used to bake.

"I’m a lonely old man as you can see
Can you not stop by for a bit of tea?"

The cake excelled in beauty and taste
I knew it could not go to waste.

The tea divine was heaven sent
From his table myself I could not rent.

An unusual spell now has me bound
For I cannot remove myself I’ve found.

And so I sit here every day
To eat and drink my time away.
