Reminiscing fond memories of a relationship
It's Valentine's Day
The smell of roses
the smell of chocolates
is in the air.
But all I hold is one rose.
One that no one can see.
One by one
the petals wilt
A beautiful red rose
gleaming with water drops
slowly drying
there...
a petal falls onto the floor
the memories flooding back
The realization that I'm spending
Valentine's Day
Alone.
Another petal...
How happy I was for the past year
The jokes,
The smiles,
and the laughter
Another petal...
The hurt of being without you
of having to let you go.
I see another petal
breaking free,
floating to the ground...
The hope of being with you
diminishing
and disappearing
As the petals fall
The pain,
the memories,
and the hope
all flood back to me,
drowning me in sorrow.
Alas,
the last petal
Your love,
My love,
and our relationship.
As the last petal falls,
it glides slowly,
reluctantly down,
to join the rest on the ground
The flower inside me wilts, dies
The petals laying all around me
floating around, like my tears
still beautiful,
but taken away by nature.
My memories
the petals.
