This is a poem I wrote earlier this year for my grandfather. I read it at his funeral.
He came one day
Early in May
Destined to traverse the musical road.

He watched and he listened
He glened what others knew
To play his own music, pure and true.

He taught many
To sing and to play
And joined bands freelance, every other day.

He fell in love with his wife
And had seven children over time
He really was sitting on cloud nine.

He taught his children music
With most joining his band
Even his oldest Granddaughter put in her hand.

As time began to creep
He looked to his Grandchildren
And decided to devote his time to them

His strings never rusted
His pick was rarely still
And the chance to play his music still gave him a thrill.

Now eternity has him
And he plays up there
Playing his music with nary a care.

For he came one day
Early in May
Destined to traverse the musical road.
