I think the basics are good. You get the punctuation and spelling right, the direct speech is handled well, the sentences are well formed and about the right length, as are the paragraphs. The descriptions are good and you do a very good job of creating a sense of suspense. The only negative I see, but it is quite a significant one, is that the story is not really very original. I suggest for your next writing exercise you try to write something a bit more interesting and original, perhaps drawing on you own experience. Everyday experiences can be every bit as interesting as dramatic events like hauntings, if well-written, and you certainly ha ve the basic skills necessary to do this.
