hi debbie,
I am like your husband now.
I feel the same as he does for a brother. The only difference is that I've never seen my brother since birth but I can feel his presence through his voice on the phone.

I can relate most especially in the line "I'm saddened by the time we waste"...
But I think its more appropriate if you use "wasted rather than waste" because you are already talking about the past time.
