Your story is very good -- though it's short it has a lot to it. I noticed that the word "life" was used several times in the second paragraph, and you might want to change that. However, I don't understand why the character was wondering who she would send a postcard to. Is her family dead? You might want to expand a little bit. Overall, very good work.
