Interesting, sad story. I'm curious as to what happens after he's released from the hospital. His drive for the piano was expressed, but would he have a matching drive or desire to succeed at anything else or would he let his disability handicap him in everything he tried to do from that point on? For the moment, he seems like he's made his mind up for the worse, but that's quite human. I like it.
Great story - I had a lot of fun reading it. I wouldn't mind having a little more to read - especially Tom's thoughts and point of view on both what is happening during the shooting and his feelings/thoughts about her. Keep up the good writing and I look forward to more!
