Further Comments...
I didn't know, until checking out this book, that there even was a Pete the Cat Amazon Prime Video original series based on James Dean's classic Pete the Cat children's books.

Until reading this book, I used to think that a more modern graphic layout would be better, but I found myself missing the old (apparently) hand-drawn graphics. It was still fun to read though. I imagine if I read it to my youngest nephew he would love the whole thing, because he loves cats and has a great sense of humor.

This book tells the story of Pete the Cat, Grumpy Toad and Pete the Cat's class potluck. Before the potluck started, Grumpy Toad was at Pete's house, where Pete's mom shared her three-bite rule. Apparently, if you watch the video, there's a song for it. I didn't watch the video so I made up music in my head as I read the words. That did make it more fun.

So, her rule is that before you can say you hate anything, you have to try three bites of it. This went well at the potluck, until it was time to eat what Grumpy Toad brought (bet you can figure this one out! Hint - it was in my "didn't like" section. And, being personally vegan, no I would not apply Pete's mom's three-bite rule. *Smile*).

Even so, it was a mostly cute and fun read. I think I prefer the old-fashioned books, but I'd read more of these new ones if my library offered them.

I borrowed a copy of this book from my local library.

I rated this review 13+ because of the use of words like "whipping," even though it's used in the cooking sense.

Just in case you're curious about the ranking of this book on Amazon:
"Best Sellers Rank: #607,506 in Kindle Store (See Top 100 in Kindle Store)

#189 in Children's Cooking Books
#369 in Children's Frog & Toad Books
#484 in Children's Cat Books (Kindle Store)"

I smiled when I saw it was high in the children's cooking books section. It's not really a cookbook, but it does have some cooking in it. And I had zero idea that there even was a " Children's Frog & Toad Books" category! That made me want to write a Children's Frog & Toad Book. Maybe my nephews will want to help. That'd be fun thing to do together. *Smile*
