I really enjoyed the first two installments of the author's Fallen Empire series. The world building is excellent and the plotting is always tight and engaging. While I didn't enjoy this one quite as much as the first two in the series, I can appreciate the light it shed on one of the more mysterious races in the universe she built, and it effectively piques the reader's interest to keep going with the series by the end. The middle drags a little bit, but the beginning and end are solid and really engaging.
