Summary of this Book...
This well written book chronicles the author's journey from her first discovery of a lump in her breast through chemotherapy and surgery. Supplemented with journal entries she wrote while undergoing the entire process, this book offers a real, honest and heartfelt look into what the author's life was like during this time.
This type of Book is good for...
I would highly recommend this book to anyone who is dealing with breast cancer, or cares for someone who is.
Full of additional information, the book both asks and answers the questions one would typically have under these circumstances.
I especially liked...
The book is set up with journal entries and follow-up commentaries which give the reader a clear view of the the author's journey and insights not typically found in books of this kind.
When I finished reading this Book I wanted to...
Applaud! Kristen Sauerhoff not only shows gumption, spunk, and determination, but lets the reader see the frustrations and tears as well as the feelings of loss, grief, and helplessness that go along with the process. Her honesty and hope ring through this book and infuse the reader with the sense that they, too can and will get through this!
This Book made me feel...
Hope. Empowered. Wiser. It enlightens the reader, answering many questions that arise at such times.
The author of this Book...
Kristin lives in Southwest Michigan with her husband and two children. Her quest for scientific knowledge has been a regular part of her life and led her to receive her Ph.D. in Animal Breeding and Genetics in 1995. She worked for many years as a statistician and is now in management at a large consumer packaged goods company. The surprise diagnosis of breast cancer left her with a hunger for knowledge about the science associated with both the disease and its treatment. She wishes to provide as many women as possible with the knowledge that they need to face, cope with and survive breast cancer.
I recommend this Book because...
This would be the book I would read again if I were to experience breast cancer. I would recommend this book to my own daughters should they, as well.
