Summary of this Book...
A phone call brings back memories of David Pelzer's teenage years along Duinsmoore Way, where he made the first lasting friendships of his life. He had lived for years in foster care after social workers took him from his abusive mother and had never before "fit in" with anyone. Duinsmoore Way gave him a place to call home.
This type of Book is good for...
Those that like to listen or be in a one-sided conversation. I kept feeling like I should be trading anecdotes with Pelzer rather than just reading. I blame that on the lack of direction in the story.
I especially liked...
Michael Marsh. His library full of books and the way he accentuated his advice with a wave of his beer brought back memories of one of my favorite people growing up.
I didn't like...
The lack of arc or strong message. There was a snippet of a message, but it got muddled because the beginning of the tale made me think the memoir was to be about how Pelzer became close to Dan Brazell. So, looking forward to that, I missed everything else.
