Summary of this Book...
Sheila Walsh, one of the Women of Faith speakers leads us on a journey through the hurts of life and the promises of healing. Sheila bares her own soul, scars and all, for a testimony to pain knowing no station or situation.

I found this paragraph in her introduction to be encompassing:

I began to ask God to help me understand how we are to live in this world with all the potential for hurt, pain, and fear and yet experience a deep healing that we are able to hold onto no matter what life throws at us. I'm realizing that there is a reason that some of us are able to access and maintain this healing and move on with life while others lose it like the morning mist or are unable to receive it in the first place. It is my passion and heart to study what God's Word says, and then together we can live in the liberty of all He promises.

The book was born of a question she was posed after a Women of Faith Conference. The person asked if the speakers see the pain of the women sitting in the stadium. I have to admit hearing her speak and explain this point before reading the book itself. This book speaks to me on several levels. My identification with the disease of Major Depression is one of the key points for me.

The bood addresses broken hearts on an intimate level. She proceeds to break this into sections Heartache, Warfare, and Community.
This type of Book is good for...
Anyone who is reeling from devestation of spirit, feeling devoid of a connection. There are times in our lives when God seems distant and we feel bereft. This is the book to pick up at times like these.
I especially liked...
The detailed coverage of application points at the end of each chapter are quite helpful. Futhermore, the Bible Study guide in the back of the book will be helpful for leading small groups through the book.
When I finished reading this Book I wanted to...
Gather women into a group and shepherd them through the pages I had just read.
This Book made me feel...
Connected. One of the downfalls of my illness is that I can believe the worst that can be thrown at me. This book helps me to understand and work through those times.
The author of this Book...
I could listen to Sheila Walsh speak all day and it was comforting to hear her Scottish brogue in my head as I read. She keeps her testimony real and you feel connected.
I recommend this Book because...
It is by far one of the most definitive books on the human condition (suffering, heartache) and living with it I have read.
Further Comments...
Be sure to check out other books by this author as she is as talented as she is real.
