Summary of this Book...
Tomorrow, When The War Began is the start of my favourite series. It's about a teenage girl named Ellie and her friends, (Lee, Homer, Fi, Robyn, Corrie and Kevin). During Christmas Break the group goes camping in the bush. Of course they are all excited and reading for a great time, not realizing what is in store for them. When they come home from their trip they are shocked to see their homes abandoned, livestock dead and devastation everywhere. Soon they realize that they were dropped in the middle of an invasion.
This type of Book is good for...
any day, and lifting up your spirits. It shows courage, romance and a sense of responsibility and real growth among the characters. It's great for boosting an average day and staying up all night to read it.
I especially liked...
the way Ellie narrates the book. She a normal teenager and it shows in every page. She speaks of everyday things, not just the war. She wonders about love, life, god, and what's to come of her future. And she is emotional for her family and can relate at least one of the characters to the readers.
When I finished reading this Book I wanted to...
jump out of my seat and buy the rest of the series. I love them that much, and that's exactly what I did. But what i really wanted to do was go and do something to make me feel needed in life.
This Book made me feel...
sadness, anger, adrenaline, fear, and every other emotion there is. Every single chapter has some sort of effect on the reader and draws the reader more and more into the story.
The author of this Book...
is John Marsden. An Australian man who has written many successful titles such as Tomorrow, when the war began and the rest of the series. He has also written the Ellie chronicles, and new series for Tomorrow, when the War Began Fans. Among these works he's published such books as So Much to Tell You, Staying Alive In Year Five, Letters from the inside, Out Of Time and many other wonderful stories. I especially recommend Winter and Checkers. His website is www.JohnMarsden.com
I recommend this Book because...
it's a all around great book full of life, danger, and everyday problems that every teen faces. It's not only good for teens though, it's great for adults and it puts everyone's day a little better. It shows that we can really make a difference.
Further Comments...
I have total faith that anyone who reads these books are going to love them, the story plot is amazing; every character is original in their own way. The writing style is great, the Length of the books are even perfect. And it's useful for everyday life, teaching you lessons and showing you how to defend yourself!
