This is a book about adventure, love, torture, magic, evil, and most of all, entertainment. A woods guide, Richard Cypher, whose father had been killed, meets a girl who calls herself Kahlan Amnell. She hides a secret, but he will not press her to know it. As the story continues, Richard's good friend, Zeddicus, accompanies the two on a quest that takes them through torture, love, and lots of other stuff. You meet creatures such as Gars, Dragons, and Darken Rahl himself, lord and master of a place of magic called D'Hara. Lord Rahl plans to enslave the world using magic that has never before been unleashed upon the world.
