Summary of this Book...
Here is the first book of the Lord of The Rings trilogy, by the fantasy master-writer J.R.R. Tolkien. This is one of the best books you will ever read, perhaps one of the best books ever written.

Frodo, a hobbit who lives in Bag End, Hobbiton, The Shire, Middle-Earth, is left a strange gift from his Uncle Bilbo--a ring. But not just any ordinary ring; it is a ring that could hold in it the fate of all Middle-Earth. To avoid the destruction of Middle-Earth, Frodo must take this ring and embark on a dangerous journey to Mount Doom, in Mordor, to destroy it.
I especially liked...
This book is excellently written, with a simple, understandable style that makes all details needed to understand the story clear while still leaving mystery around certain things, such as where Sauron came from, the elves, and the creation of Middle-Earth. All these things are, of course, given in full detail in Tolkien´s other books.
When I finished reading this Book I wanted to...
Naturally I wanted to go on to the next book of the trilogy, The Two Towers.
I recommend this Book because...
Well, I can be sure that most of you reading this review have already read the book or at least watched the movie--so telling you about the plot isn´t going to be that interesting. The person I would especially recommend this book for, then, is for that person who wants to write fantasy, as a book where you can learn good writing methods--but please try not to echo Middle-Earth. The impressive thing about Tolkien is his astounding originality, writing this story in a time when fantasy was definitely not the most popular thing to be writing.
Further Comments...
The movie to this book is also excellent. Now, to those of you who have read the book and may have your doubts about watching the movie, let me say this: the movie and the books are the same and at the same time different. Both are good, but in different ways. If we begin comparing the two and wondering which are better, the movies or the books, we aren´t truly appreciating the value and beauty of this story or the talents of the actors. I recommend the book Fellowship of the Ring, and I also recommend the movie--but I don´t recommend that you read or watch them to see what differences there are, what the directors of the movie put in, what they left out, etc. Watch the movie as good in itself, and read the book as something beautiful to be enjoyed because it is a lovely story, not just a good movie.
