Summary of this Book...
CLOSER...

They found the town silent, apparently abandoned. Then they found the first body strangely swollen and still warm. One hundred fifty were dead, 350 missing. But the terror had only begun in the tiny mountain town of Snowfield, California.

AND CLOSER...

At first they thought it was the work of a maniac. Or terrorists. Or toxic contamination. Or a bizarre new disease.

AND CLOSER...

But then they found the truth. And they saw it in the flesh. And it was worse than anything any of them had ever imagined...

Taken from the book.
I especially liked...
I loved the plausibility of this book. It wasn't one of those far-fetched books that are only scary because their is enough blood and guts to make you puke. It was realistic, and it made sense. It deals mostly with perception, which is what makes us scared in the first place.

The history and research needed to complete this book is astounding, just that fact alone makes me admire him all the more. The proof he offers to solidify the theory behind this book truly makes you wonder if this actually happened. This was brilliantly written.
I didn't like...
I have always loved reading romance novels, so any novel with a little romance in it appeals to me. There is a little bud of romance in here, but it didn't develope the way I had hoped. Funny how being scared for your life can bring people closer together...
This Book made me feel...
Scared out of my mind until the antagonist is revealed and the mystery isn't there to cloud my mind and make me see shadows on the walls.
The author of this Book...
He is very talented at getting the reader to evaluate themselves and their lives, not to mention what they beleive in. This book made me wonder what truly is out there that perhaps we just can't understand, or don't want to beleive.
I recommend this Book because...
It is a true horror, but with more to it than your average vampire, mummy or physco. Every monster imaginable is trapped within this novel, within one foe.
Further Comments...
I'm sure you are wondering how Dean Koontz could possibly consider this book a mistake. As most of you probably know, Dean Koontz is a suspense writer, and with his slight deviation into horror, he earned the title of a horror writer, a title he did not want. Despite the fact that this book might be a blunder in his eyes, it certainly is a great book to read.
