Summary of this Book...
This is the memoirs of Andrea Bocelli written by the tenor himself on a special Braille computer. Although not born blind, Andrea Bocelli lost his eyesight to glaucoma at a very early age. His very dramatic story began probably with overcoming physical pain, operations and doctor's visits as a child.
The tenor talks of his life in Tuscany in his father's place in detail as if relating someone else's story, in third person. He tells about his educational process; his wonderful supportive family; how he tried very hard to fit in with the other students; a certain family friend, his mentor, who helped him learn and gain self-confidence; his relationships with women; his marriage and fatherhood; his trials and tributes as he became a lawyer; the time when he won first place in San Remo Music Festival and Pavarotti's comment when he first heard Bocelli sing; his first tour of the USA; and his relentless effort going after his lifelong dream to become the respected singer that he is today.
I especially liked...
The passage when he rushed back to his first new-born son where he tells of the way how he held the baby and how the baby's smell touched him.

When I finished reading this Book I wanted to...
listen to him sing again. So I put on his CD and did exactly that. :)
This Book made me feel...
closer to Andrea Bocelli as a person, although, most probably, I'll never meet him.
The author of this Book...
is the tenor himself. He wrote the book on a braille computer without a ghostwriter. He's married with two children and lives in Monte Carlo and Tuscany.
I recommend this Book because...
it is not just one man's story. It tells of the unbreakable human spirit.

Further Comments...
While reading this book, I was both moved to tears and to smiles. It was written with self-respect and with respect to the reader. What I read I enjoyed. There was no passage in it that made me think, "Oh, gross, I don't need to know about this!" as it sometimes happens with some autobiographies. Very successful life story.
