an experience of a person who hides behind a cheerful facade, yet, has a torn soul
She plasters a wide smile when she’s around with her friends
She laughs so hard like there’s no tomorrow.
They don’t know her sadness when she’s alone in those dark walls
They don’t know the horrors going on in her mind.
No one knows the prison she’s chained to
No one knows about the monster that’s eating her soul.

She tells her Mama, she’s old enough already
She tells her Papa, she can take care of herself.
They don’t know the truth that she’s scared and lost
They don’t know about the dark nights she cried herself to sleep.
No one knows how she dreams of going back home
No one knows how she tries to comfort her tortured mind.

She tells herself she can do it alone
She tells herself she doesn’t need anyone.
She hangs with the notion that she’s meant to be alone
She lets her pride cover the truth of her shame.
No one knows the pain that’s tearing her apart
No one sees the dullness of her eyes.
No one knows how she keeps hiding
On that cheerful façade she carefully created.
