Something I wrote at the spur of the moment.
She spread her lips to speak, but nothing came forth. He stared at her for a moment before he took her in his arms and embraced her. "Bryne.." he whispered into her hair. She shook with tears as she let the pistol, that she had been gripping so tightly fall to the floor. "I wasn't going to do it, Cyan.." He stared into her smoky gray eyes, trying to find the lie. He couldn't. And she was thankful, she had wanted nothing more than to pull that trigger and send a bullet through her mouth on direct course to her brain. Cyan, somehow, by fate, had opened the door, just as she put the slightest bit of pressure onto the trigger. He'd saved her life and without knowing so, done her a misfortune. "Sleep, love..please sleep this off." He mouthed into her ear, so softly that she could barely hear it above her hiccups and gasps for air. Lifting her from the floor and kicking the pistol aside, he carried her to the bedroom which they had once shared and lay her in the bed, that too they had once shared. Many nights, they'd spent together in that bed, making love, whispering sweet nothings back and forth in the darkness. How he still wanted that, all of that. Bryne, or so she said, did not, she wanted to expand, to experiment, to be free of Cyan's suffocating love. He lay next to her, listening to the sobs she let escape into the pillow. He ran his fingers through her hair patting her soothingly, wishing he could do more, take her face in his hands and cover it with kisses. Wanting ever so much to reveal to her, that she was his everything. Bryne turned her head and his hand caressed her cheek. She looked up at him eyes accented with tears, tears he never wanted to see.
