Her name's Martha, abused at four. I share a connect with her. I hope you feel her too
If you were me
-you aren't,
you probably wouldn't have made the mistakes I've made
and probably wouldn't have done the things I have.

You never would have hung around the people I have
or have for friends thugs and bad boys.
If you were me,
-sadly, you aren't
you never would have made out with the new guy
on your first night out. And never would have
let him touch your "mummy-said-not-to" places

Yes, I screwed up.
Thanks for knowing
I took drugs to loosen up. And jobbed several guys
without throwing up

And men my dad's age
dipped in me,
nipped my lips
and leashed my wrists
while I cooed and whored

If you were me,
-you couldn't be.
While you grew up in a school for saints
I never went
And, yes, mum prayed for you before bed
I slept with Uncle's weight on me; his scent and grunt in my neck and ears

I never had a doll like you
I was a doll. A S.E.X doll
Thanks for knowing

If you were me,
-don't think of it,
Cos you never could have been me.
We are worlds apart.
Thank love I'm healing.
I don't resent whom I was, I never will
It's made me strong.
I never want to be you.

So quit saying if you were me
Cos you never could have been
