Modern romance is a status none can attain, and the attempt can have deadly consequences.
The day I walked in the wake of childhood,
Lost and afraid, amidst the changing faces
Of those who wait for love like love of Hollywood.

I saw them fill those artificial places
With lies that man might actually deserve
To hold, in hand, the heart that now outpaces

The glass austere of truth they can't preserve.
And now they drive their reckless youth into
The shadows of a drug-fuelled rage, and swerve

The vehicles of their pain towards an end,
And do not see the hope around the bend.
