Speaking of frogs.
Shall I inform the lot of you
I have full knowledge of the frog?
Amphibian of Anura*
beginning as a pollywog.

I dare not be so arrogant
lest I should spawn anathema.²
I study frogs within the States
as well as those in Canada.

(My book a fine two volume set
    because the species is diverse.
The world contains a lot of frogs--
one time the Pharaoh had it worse.³)

My day begins before the dawn
and sometimes then I tend to gloat.
So often, though, it is delayed
because a frog is in my throat.

But after coffee and wheat toast,
I’m off to work within my den.
I check the latest science news
in order to hop up my ken.

  (I fight my insecurity
among the ease of my abode.
Yet when I tour the countryside,
I always brake for frog and toad.)

Sometimes I’ll pen an article
that’s published in, The Frog Today.
I hear back from the readership;
“It’s riveting,” they sometimes say.

My afternoon is set aside
for research and a bit of hype.
I speak of frogs all ‘round the world
by telephone and even Skype.

The sun goes down and so I stroll
down to the pond where I feel glad.
I love to see the lunar light
illuminate each lily pad.

* In scientific classification, Anura is the order of frogs.
² Anathema...something or someone that one vehemently dislikes.
³ A plague of frogs beset Pharaoh and Egypt (Exodus 8:1-4).

For this Cramp entry, I imagine I am the author of,
Frogs of the United States and Canada (a two volume set.)
