Mistaken identities at the Halloween party.
This is a tale of identity wrong
held at the home of my friend Jason Long.
It was a Halloween costume affair
of Web acquaintances from everywhere.

I dressed up smartly as an elder ghoul
sporting long claws and lime green facial drool.
I looked for Eric from New Mexico;
he was my Internet fraternal bro.

I went up to Eric--or so I thought;
(identity goof is red on the spot.)
And at that moment I felt in-between;
he was a Klingon* I never had seen.

Yet not too far away came a guffaw;
it was a Gray Halloween thing I saw.
Yes, Eric came as an alien Gray
with a swelled head and a space laser ray.

Then our host Jason with alacrity,
cried out, “John Jack!” but he came up to me.
Behind his mask I sensed he had turned red,
but, “I’m so sorry, Ghoul,” is all he said.

Turns out his friend John walked in as Don Juan;
Jason in bellicose voice bellowed, “John!”
John Jack had told Jason ghouls scratched his back,
so of course Jason thought I was John Jack.

Then in the corner a hot Amazon
caught the attention of John Jack Don Juan.
He said, “Samantha, I’m glad to meet you!”
But he lost face when the female withdrew.

The real Samantha admitted to thrill;
she sidled up to John costumed as Jill.
(She joked to John they should locate a pail,
  then trick or treat so to make their own tale.)

Jason asked me to help him with the food;
I wiped my drool because some ghouls aren’t rude.
Someone asked me to sum up the event;
I am succinct with a poetic bent:

  John Jack was Juan and Samantha was Jill;
  Eric played Gray in extreme overkill.
  We all survived the identity fray;
  then we all made our way to the buffet.
