The Crown Wars

Here is the general idea for this realm:

Theara is a collection of lands that once fell under the power of the mighty Vaeri (fairy) Empire of Elves. The Vaeri (or Elves in the tongue of the Elder Folk) came from lands far, far away. Their kind had suffered a long forgotten calamity, the last of their kind had come upon a lush realm they named Theara, after their goddess, Mother Nature. They were few, but they were mighty and held great knowledge and power of the arcane arts.

Theara (called Terra by the indigenous cultures known as the Elder Folk), was populated by many feudal city-state kingdoms, mostly Men, but there were Dwarves, Centuar, Minotaur, and Woodland Faun. The ancient cultures of Theara were still quite young compared to the ancient Vaeri, and while they knew and did practice some forms of magic, they paled in comparison to that of the Elves. Within a generation the Vaeri had conquered nearly all of Theara and began to forge a mighty empire throughout the lands...

The Vaeri ruled across Theara for nearly 5,000 years. Throughout history some were beloved and benevolent rulers, others were horrid despots. They had unnaturally long lives and powers of magic compared to those they ruled and subjected, making them like gods, and too many Vaeri they ruled and considered themselves so. However their rule being near absolute, their quest for magic, power, and dominance eventually led to their downfall. Some saw the errors of their ways and tried to find the means to save their kind and right their wrongs...but most began to perish. Slowly but surely their power and authority waned. They grew old, sick, and some even went mad. At one point they could no longer even mother or father children, the only remnant of their bloodline was through the bastard offspring of inter-racial unions with their Dwarven and Human subjects.

For many generations the Mixed Blood offspring were looked down upon, if not out right destroyed after birth. Now they were to be the salvation of the Vaeri bloodlines, the only way they could carry on their legacy. But, with each generation the Vaeri blood was ever more diluted...and their hold on power with it.

The empire slowly rotted and crumbled to a shell of what it once was, and as the last of the true Vaeri Lords passed on, they left of legacy of war and greed as their descendants waged a long terrible series of battles for thrones, honor, glory, and survival...these have come to be known as the Crown Wars!
