Words from my heart.

I walk among the cedar trees,

the oaks, maples and pines,

and marvel at the coolness here,

where the sun barely shines.

The low light gives one pause you see,

when branches and shadows make fright,

a nice place to take a walk,

unless one walks at night.

The mingle of earthy perfume fills the air,

the smell of mushrooms in the dark rich dirt,

entwine with the scent of bright green moss,

it’s enchanting bouquet to assert.

The airs alive with various sounds,

a number from birds in the trees,

the animals add their offering as well,

the insects and wind through the trees.

Last years leaves decay in the soil,

broken branches scattered around,

fallen trees about, their lives now spent,

the most peaceful place I’ve found.
