Neglected, rejected, alone...again.
The storm was raging around her as she wandered alone in the dark,

Down the pitted road she knew so well.

She had walked it many times throughout her life,

Always alone in the dark with the storm tearing at her flesh.

Every time she found herself here the road seemed longer and filled with more pits,

The darkness seemed thicker; the storm more violent.

She never thought she’d find herself walking this road again at this stage of her life,

Not after the bliss she had lived and shared not so long ago.

But here she was battered and torn,

By the merciless storm yet again.

Never knowing where the road would take her,

Or how long she would have to walk it.

There was one thing she did know,

It always ended some place she had never been.

Eventually the sky would clear and the sun would come out,

To warm her face, her heart, her soul.

The road would be smooth,

With wonderful surprises around each bend.

Her steps would be lighter,

Almost as if her feet never touched the pavement.

Her broken, shattered body would be healed,

But the scars would always remain to remind her.
