this poem is about the role that self belief and trust plays in our life:
I set about, one fine day
To fulfill my life's desire.
Brimming with knowledge
Not to mention skills
Hard work incomparable.

As I walked, my aim fixed
I met an uprooted tree.
"Don't go" it growled in pain
"The earth's too sinister.
It has the power to uproot me
What chance do you have against it?
Turn back to save your life".

A tiny cloud of doubt
Invaded my mind.
Nevertheless,I took a step further
To meet an eroding rock.
"Don't go" it cried in disgust
"The water's too cruel.
It has crushed me into pieces
What chance do you have against it?
Turn back to save your life.

The tiny cloud of doubt
Seemed to grow thicker.
Nevertheless, I took a step further
To meet the abating wind.
"Don't go" it wailed in sorrow
"The mountain's too harsh
I can't sail past it
What chance do you have against it?
Turn back to save your life.

By then, I had given in
To the fear building within.
I turned back and fled.
All my knowledge and effort
Went down the drain.

Now, when I ask myself
What happened
I realise what I lacked.
The most important character
Belief in one's own self.
I believed in the tree
The rock, the wind.
I believed in everything
But my own heart.
I failed to trust the power
Beating tirelessly to keep me alive
And that had led to my failure.
