Longing for things to be like they used to be!
A Page in History

Over the hills, down in the valley,
Lived a lovely girl, by the name of Sally.
She pined all day for things to be,
As they were written in history.

In her world, of knights and ladies fair,
And comely maidens with flaxen hair.
She would be the fairest of all,
Stunningly beautiful, queen of the ball.

She dreamed of such, by night and by day,
A handsome prince would take her away.
Then it happened as never before,
She hurriedly answered the knock on the door.

She opened the door stared in to the night,
She stepped out and out of sight!
In deepest winter, the cold wind blows,
Under sullen skies, and falling snow,

Many are there who truly think,
Her thinking and wishing, drove her to the brink.
And in her eagerness and longing to be,
She stepped into a page of history!

The hills remain and so does the valley,
And many are there, who remember Sally.
But none knows or will not say,
Who or what came and took her away.
