Love slowly drifts away
You seem so distant lately
I don't know what to think
I'm missing you so terribly
I'm looking for the link
That brings my true love back to me,
To the place we were before
You left your place of residence
But did not choose this door.

Remember when, if you think back,
You spoke of sacrifice?
Of reaching out for happiness
For which there was no price?
You dream was us, together
You said I was your life
You promised me the future
Even said I'd be your wife.
You placed your heart upon my finger
To carry with me always
The mem'ries of that night still linger
As I walk home's empty hallways.

What happened to the time we share?
Our lunch dates and my visits there?
I hardly see you anymore
It's sadly different from before.
I see you on the weekends now
I've lost my place but don't know how
Or what I did or what I've missed
That I've been moved down on the list.
You make choices. I abide.
I try my best to keep inside
Sometimes these choices do cause pain
I don't want you to see
Though still you see it in my eyes
When something's hurting me.

It's a bitter pill to swallow
When the man who you adore
The one you gave your heart to
And you've been fighting for
Would rather be away from you
Than hold you near his heart
At night as you lay sleeping--
Though you choose to be apart.
