A short poem. Have you ever had to force a smile?
Keep on smiling, keep on fighting, keep pretending things are fine.
Life's uncertain, pains keep hurting, disheartened spirit no longer mine.
Distract your mind, avert your eyes, focus on things that don't matter.
Your mind is wandering, constantly pondering, while the people around you chatter.
Prick ears up and listen, when your eyes start to glisten, so people wont know that you're spaced
Hold your expression, like cherished possessions, keeping that smile in it's place.
Join in conversation, they're patiently waiting, for whatever you have to say.
Speak very clearly and don't appear dreary, keep your emotions at bay.
Keep all your strength up, keep it all pent up, and endless chore of a task.
No time to be laid back, no chance of a payback; a day in the life of a mask.
