a barbaric yawp about the tragic realities of a particular child
Hush now child,
Skin only knows how to feel
A gentle comfort and might
A warm hand on an ever cold night
Melt into terrorizing pleasant touch so mild
Yet never shall it leave nor heal

Hush now child,
Eyes cannot deceive
Back in that place not yet dead
Here we cannot feel, but see instead
Watch until the mind’s beguiled
Forevermore it shall grieve

Hush now child,
Your mind is right
Shadows laugh solely for thrills
Their eyes seem to glow and it kills
It all seems just so wild
Ignore those things that stalk the night

Hush now child,
You lie merely in dreams
Chasing something you shall never hold
You know the world is awfully cold
Far off is the last time you smiled
Nothing is ever as bad as it means

Here now we watch the fatal flower bloom
As it grows, it becomes more wise
Now dawn, nor dusk, nor death mean much
Never waste your time thinking of such
And here we note the impending doom:
Only nightmares lie behind golden eyes
