a poetic piece about the neverending battle between logic and emotion

My overanalytic mind screeches to a blanking halt

As my heart drives out the feelings it didn’t want to find

My surprising strength immediately begins working to

Change what IS to what it would like it to be

Haven’t I been here and done this before?

I thought I already molded my emotions, as soft as clay

Into a hard, thick, immobile wall of steel

As I grasp a breath of air, thoughts resume to raging

So rampid they become impossible to keep up with

So contradicting they confuse me further.

Simply stated its a matter of logic reasoning versus raw emotion

Yet the sentiment entangles its roots and strangles life

From the obvious logic that has become not so obvious anymore

So you see, this simple matter has become so overcomplicated

That I am fighting not to drown in its complexity

Or give in to to tug of its roots on my soul.

Everyone knows...The strength of logic always wins

In the yesteryears and tomorrows...
