a brief treatment about a hunchback named Arazona who escaped from jail.
The miscreant escaped from jail. The expensive cane he stole from a crotchedy old man visiting his son clanked down the hall with intention. His newly minted snow- white wig fit snugly on his bald pate. The faux-visitor waved an enthusiastic good-bye as he stumped through the gates into the blinding sun. Although he had reasons, the hunchback had been a miscreant all his life.
Everything seemed quite normal in Pleasantville where Arazona grew up- birthday parties, family trips, play dates and dogs. Until fourth grade in Miss Ruth Smith's class. That's when everything changed. At Arazona's yearly physical, Doctor Lowell noticed a rounding of his back. Although it was ever so slight, it definitely had the flavor of a protrusion. After an unending series of tests and re-tests, his condition was diagnosed: Kyphosis! It was inoperable, progressive and fatal. No time frame was given. No explanation.
As time went on and his back blossemed, Arazona had fewer and fewer friends. However, he did go to his senior prom with Debbie Downer who was just as big a killjoy as Mr. Holmstead- one of the chaperones. After the prom, Arazona went to the distillery to pick up a keg. A large, orange glow hovered above the building. He went to check it out and discovered it was not of human form. It was an alien ship! The ship picked up the unique indiviual and the crew became his only friends.
Early the next morning and it was time for Arazona to return home before his absence was noticed. There was a combine harvesting an adjoining field. The driver, Demetrius, loved the new tractor he had been given on his birthday. He stopped to drink some water. It was pure and cold. It had come from a glacier way back in the day. When he looked up, he saw a strip of light coming straight down from the sky. It stopped and hovered over the hilltop. Out came Arazona waving good-bye .Dumb-founded, Demetrius swallowed what seemed like eight gallons of water. "Do you see that thing?! It came out of nowhere!" he screamed to his combine. Hearing him, Arazona escaped to a lonely barn in the Mississippi backwash.
