An episode from the life of a Roman/Greek Soldier..just my fantasy.
The holy war beckoned
Wrapped in armors,holding our shields,
We suppressed the ghosts of fear.
Before the dawn we must
Leave this place and tread
Grounds we've never trodden before.
Mothers and sisters don't pine, don't cry
It's the design for us :to be immortal ,we don't die.

Triumphant we were,swords reeked
With blood.Bodies were torn asunder,
Ravens gathered for the feast,
Encircling corpses in hunger.
Sky dripping as if mourning.
Clouds were angry as if warning
Of the gods' wrath that would befell us.
We must take heed and to our home flee.

As I was stepping ahead
Towards the boat I caught a glimpse
Of a young lady with dark long curls
Around her tiny waist and shuddering limbs.
Big blue eyes i called them pearls.
Blinded with tears she was roaming
Till she found a corpse and she feebly knelt down.
I was mesmerized by the girl in the shabby white gown.

Deaf to my companion's constant urge,
From their plan i had to diverge.
Alone with her on this hollow land
I approached, retreated, and approached.
She stuttered,something i couldn't understand.
Amid her wailing i offered my hand
lifting her up.Her reproaching look
Bitterly darted right through me.

The Sun crept and drowned
In the bosom of the sea.
And there she stood before me.
He frail body was shivering
I took off my cloak, wrapped it around her
I held her close I got to sniff her hair.
Put up the tent watching her asleep
All night long.Lit the fire to keep her warm.

From here it all began
The story of Pristine and I
A tale of war and love should never die
We lived unknown on the hollow land.
Love from our love sprang
Every morning I would wake up
I saw the reflection of my eyes in hers.
Her smile always brightened my days.

I would weave her a garland of roses
And gently crown her head.
I would gather the snail shells
Make a necklace around her neck.
We would bathe in the sea
Washing away the painful memories.
Never could she talk yet vowed her eyes
"You are set upon my heart as a seal "

On a dark cold night
Ominous black clouds tolled
The tocsin and ferocious wind
swept the land.The sea broke
the silence as it was eagerly
rushing to the shore taking
My lady by surprise, she was gone
Yet dwelt everyday in my mind.

Now I lie here on my bed
I have an hour or two ahead
Before i take my last breath
I'll take a look at the birds high,
And smile for the last time.
I told you my tale no one knows.
The precious episode of my life unfolds.
I shall return to her, our souls merge as one.

We will dance around the sun.
We will stroll in the fields of gold
Whisper our eternal story: of love and war.
