The end of the work day.
“4:50”
I can almost feel it
It is so close
I can almost taste it
The sweetness in the air
The world is brighter there
I see by candle light in here
The bright silver light is pulling me toward it
I want to go
It seems so close
But not in my reach
I hate the darkness around me
It sucks away my freedom
Only in the light am I free
The darkness surrounds me now
But I see the glimmer of the light
I want it to grow
It slowly does
I watch as the light grows
I watch as it – consumes me
In the light I take a breath
The sweetest air fills my lungs
I am happy, but only for a while
For I know the darkness is coming back
The cycle will start over again
I will have to suffer through the darkness
In order to see the light
