this discusses my angst at a purchase made approximately a year ago
The Bed

On a hot July mid morning
A bed came to replace
The one that occupied the space
Placed there eons ago it seems
So long ago in fact the memory’s too dim
As to the time it came to being in that space

To get back to the fateful July morning,
When an enormous thing squeezed inflating itself in that small space
I was but ill prepared as to the wide length it possessed.
The bed, it seems to me, is stating there is a lot of room here
And it’s inquiring and thinking to itself, is only one to keep me covered?
It seems its mere length is beckoning for more
More bodies than this one that has been allocated to it with deep regret!

I am thinking of the cons more than the pros
The bed is making passage between it tight
The bed is a big dot that’s new, around these old surroundings
The bed is taking space where space there’s none
Unless alas created space takes place by mere subtraction
I guess it would be but a must!
The bed is showing a great big space
To lie upon it but leaving an empty side
As one body two sides cannot be on.

Oh well this bed is here to stay so let me not lament no more
The thing that this bed mostly represents
Is the issue of adjusting and accepting
The things that come upon you
That you cannot really alter but contain.
Perhaps lying on it one night weary in slumber,
I may awake at morning
To find brighter tomorrows with space that fits it like a glove!
