A young girl goes out for a surf.
Across the land she travels,
the sand it burns her feet.
She reaches the cool, clear, blue,
the water, such a treat.

She walks a bit, then paddles,
out past the breaking point.
She waits for her next set,
Then board and wave are joint.

The wave it swallows her whole,
She exits the pipe with a smile,
The rising sun blinding her eyes.
She'll be out there for a while.

Many waves she rides to the shore,
many more she falls,
Many waves she misses,
Many more she stalls.

She takes just one last pipe,
She exits with a smile,
The setting sun behind her head,
She was out there for a while.
