This is a Semi Finialist Competion!
Lillard’s Orchard

My Grand father’s work was not in a high rise,
Nor did he have to wear a suit and tie.
Overalls, shoes and dedication,
Were all that was required of him on a daily basis.

In season the trees were filled with ripe apples and peaches,
So were our bellies,
Damn good eaten.

Five hungry mouths to feed,
Add my brother and me to this equation,
We all chipped in to help,
This was how my grandfather earned his livin.

Every Sunday was about the same,
No time for preach- in on this day.

There were signs on the road,
Signs on the truck,
There were signs everywhere you looked.

City folks and regulars to,
Came to buy and enjoy all the fresh produce.

Lillard’s Orchard,
No longer exist today,
But the memories will live on,
This I pray!
