its what happens each time
his hands/upon her hips
his breathe on her neck,
hands entwined/in her hair.
he whispers the words
she wants to hear.
they arent the truth,
he doesnt mean them.
its for her own good--its
what she wanted.
she believes--she
gives it up--she gives in.
pushing her down/filling her up
clinging to him like
she wants to be saved.
arms wrapped around him,
she looks in his eyes--he avoids hers.
flash (of doubt, of fear)
dismissing it (he wouldnt lie)
settling in her (would he?)
deciding he wouldnt
she keeps the rhythm--in
time to the music--it
throbs, it grows, it pulses
(can she drown out those thoughts?)
he grabs her/she reels
buries his face in her neck
she strokes his face,
his hair, his back--she loves him
doesnt want him to leave
now (she knows he will)
wants him to say it (she knows he wont)
she does instead (he throws it back)
he shuts the door/she sits alone
in the dark/she cries
