Almost to the finish line

I never truly thought
You would be gone from me.
Never thought our love
Would come to an end.
You promised forever
But forever some how ended.
I’ve tried to move on,
But I can’t get over you.
There are a few to many bumps,
On this long run that now has
Come to its end.
And I’ve made it to the finish line
But the tape just won’t break.
I’ve been standing here,
Pulling and trying to break it.
I’ve almost completely
Closed my heart to you.
But I see you getting closer
To the end,
And I watch the tape get weaker for you,
But even stronger for me.
There are things I’ve heard
That makes me curl up and die.
And that’s when my heart opens
To you, just a little more
And brings the tears back.
Slowly they start to fall again.
Every tear that has fallen from my eyes,
Holds within them,
A piece of my love,

And missing for you.
But the tears are still falling,
Every night they begin to slow
But sometimes they grow stronger.

They will completely end.
