It's Not Too Late!
There's lots of talk of NANOWRIMO around the site. Let's talk about it!

If you're anything like me, when I first got here, I heard wind of this NANOWRIMO thing, and I was incredibly confused. I had no idea what it was, so I felt completely in the dark.

Eventually, I got off my lazy backside (though, I really didn't, because I was sitting at my computer) and looked it up.

The first thing I found when I looked it up was what it actually stood for - National Novel Writing Month. This made me happy, because it always bugs me when I don't understand acronyms. I know, my normalcy is always a bit questionable.

I'd always thought November was the month men stopped shaving, but I soon found out that it is also the month that hundreds of thousands of people attempt to write a novel of at least length 50,000 words in a single month. No. Small. Task. In fact, it is HUGE. So huge, that I have never actually accomplished it, though I have started it multiple times.

However, if you are willing to step off the deep end of the pool and plunge right on in, there are several groups and websites that can give you some support. Get moving, though, you're a week late, silly!

Check out "Invalid Item ! You would need to ask for entrance into the group, but it looks like an absolutely wonderful support group for this writing season.

Also, check out http://nanowrimo.org/! You can track the progress of some of your other favorite authors, and keep track of your own progress. You can even find local support, if you live in bigger cities. Often, there are groups that will get together and just.... write together. It sounds absolutely amazing. I've always wanted to attend one.

And last, but certainly not least, check out some juicy... uhm, I mean helpful secrets to writing your novel in a month: "21 Secrets To Writing A Novel In A Month [E]. Not all 21 secrets are there, as promised, but there is some great information. Have at it!

Good Luck to all the NANOWRIMOists out there! I admire every single one of you. Whatever you do, don't forget to have FUN!!

Feedback from "Noticing Newbies Newsletter (October 9, 2013)

How true, Miss Sara Jean. *Wink* Most of us are creatures of the status quo. I haven't changed my newsletter settings since I joined, and I've even written some newsletters to which I don't even subscribe. *Rolleyes* Great advice! ~ JACE

Thank you! I resemble my own advice far more than you probably realize. Hehe.

Thank you so much for this Sarajean. I had totally forgotten ever ticking any boxes at all. This was a useful exercise as I have now changed several settings and will get a 'new' look at some different areas and genres. Very timely for me!*Delight* ~ blunderbuss

You are quite welcome! I realized that I still had Christmas decorations on mine in October, thus the newsletter itself about adjusting settings. I am just as guilty. *Smile*

Feedback from "Noticing Newbies Newsletter (July 17, 2013)

hi...I have been in the same situation like yours too!! What i do, is have a hot cup of chamomile tea! Give it time to work in your system..It really calms my mind all the way down! It also lets you go to sleep soundly too...Freshen up with chamomile tea! ~ damien666

That is a great idea! I tend to love peppermint tea far too much, but chamomile is also very calming.
