Letter from the editor

Why ever go back to basics when you've written so much already? When you're completely certain of yourself and your writing? Why?

Well, kudos to you, I say. If you have the daily confidence in yourself and your writing ability I have zero advice for you. Mission accomplished. If you're like the rest of us? Then I guess you've experienced the ebb and flow of creativity as well as writers block. The feeling of your words being useless. That nagging question in the back of your mind...

WHO WILL READ THIS?!

Does it really matter if anyone reads it? Yes. Yes, it does. There's a need to let the stories flow, poetry blossom. Yet you can be your own worst enemy at times. Life's mundane. Too busy. Too tired. Uninspired. You name it, you've been through it. And my personal favorite, procrastination. I've majored in it a long time ago!

So how do you gain the confidence back? The trust you require to believe in yourself? Without anyone else's approval? Is it even possible? Some say it is. I may not be the best person to support such extravagant comment but I'll try. After all, here I am telling you to believe in yourself. To stop questioning your writing and get rid of that terrible fear of whether or not someone will like it. You're not here to please anyone but yourself.

Don't think that your writing has to inspire creative thoughts in others, or to question the universe, or any such thing. Most times writing simply is. A beginning, middle, and end. Still, you'll question a lot of things, especially yourself and your abilities.

Be confident that you can write a random word a day and be happy with it. Believe that you're capable of creating words and worlds which might put others to shame. It's not about how "I will" but rather "I can". Positive thinking will always bring a positive outcome. Just think! How many times did you write something you questioned throughout the entire process? Sat there and worried if people will get the point across? Will they even like it? Then you'd dismiss it all and pretend that it won't bother you if no one has a positive word. And you know you're lying to yourself but you know what? Sometimes you have to fake it 'til you make it!

So! Instead of reading published stories similar to yours and wondering if a certain writer or two frequent the site for inspiration, be the person who can be that published writer who takes a sneak peak at the written works by others to get inspired once in a while... *Wink*

'Til next time!
