Letter from the editor

Much has been written about what should be done after joining this site--setting up your Portfolio, filling out your BioBlock and Biography tab, and the like.

You may have created your first Static Item. If you have a Free membership, you can create and host up to ten selected items. For a listing of which items may be hosted by membership level, check out "Free & Paid Membership Information. It covers all the membership levels--Free, Basic, Upgraded, Premium and Premium Plus.

This item will be your best friend while trying to navigate all the features Writing.Com has to offer.

Back to the question at hand: What now? I submit it's time to learn your way around the site. First, open up the Reference Guide, "Writing.Com 101, and take stock of the major topics. Pick one or two each day that interest you and read about them. In a few short weeks you'll have a pretty good working knowledge of the site.

Or, you might click on one of the major links in the Navigation menu each day. Again, I submit that poking into these nooks and crannies will enhance your journey across WDC in a very short period of time.

Of course, if you desire only to post your stories for storage or for others to review, you would have no need to seek such information. Soon after joining WDC, I decided I wanted more from the site than just storage--I wanted to participate. To that end, I became nosy.

WDC is without a doubt a complex and feature rich writing site for the discerning writer. If that's what you want to be, it makes sense to spend time learning more about the site.

I hope you'll choose participation. I submit you will become a better writer through your interaction with members, and Writing.Com will be a better writing site for it.

Ask & Answer

Thanks for spending time with me today. At the bottom of every newsletter is a section entitled

*Bullet* *Bullet* *Bullet* Don't Be Shy! Write Into This Newsletter! *Bullet* *Bullet* *Bullet*

followed by a text box. If you liked what you read (or if you didn't), please take time and drop me a line. I'd love to hear your ideas.

From the Newsfeed:

From TheBusmanPoet : I enjoy reading them and hopefully can pick up some insight.

From 🌞GeminiGem 🌻 : Yep, I do find newsletter useful and informative. Now that I write them myself I also appreciate I especially appreciate the effort that goes into putting them together, as well.

From Scarypotato is okay : As someone who didn't get professional training as a writer, I'd say I find the Newsletters very useful. They've helped me understand WDC and how to write for various genres. Also I've learned what's important to put into a narrative and what to leave out.

From oldgreywolf scribbles : Yes, as someone who perceives and evaluates, the newsletters are interesting (including the two I AM NOT signed up for), along with their editors. The newsletters are often educational, sometimes humorous, and probably a lot of work to assemble.

From Tannus : I never really got into newsletters. I think if it interests me, then maybe I would read them.
