Wow! What a short story it is! It is a grammatically perfect short story. That story concentrates on a specific subject, the dying moments of Johnson Dedmon. The characters of the story are very minimum. Only two, Death and Johnson Dedmon. That is also a prime characteristic of a short story.
Another characteristic is the pace of the story always remains smooth, constantly going toward the end. In this story, we can see the same. It helps to gain readability, too.
The tale is scary. The tremendous suspense is poled in it. So it becomes very much engaging.
When I took birth, our death will assure on that day. Why should we do sins that make our dying so complicated? The shadow of that thinking can reflect here in this fantastic short story.
It is a beautiful creation.
Write on!
