The Heros died, but their scary past came again to bite them in the true sense. So, a paranormal atmosphere had been created there. They now lived in a parallel world, but their mentality remained static. They could not think otherwise except terrorism, even after their death.
Distinctly, Beth became too dependent on Pam. Pam took total control of Beth's activities. Others remained as they were in the past.
Suspense firmly stayed all over the chapter. But, tension for the following happenings remains as it is. This is the beauty of story writing.
